Extra! Extra!
Check below for the latest happenings
at Buck Jones Woodstock!
May 19, 2008:
Thanks to our legislators for making the water rules uniform throughout the state!
Rules for existing lawns and gardens:
Hand watering is allowed for 25 minutes between 12am – 10am on the odd/even schedule. Hand watering is
defined as one person, with one hose with a spray nozzle that shuts off when released.
You may not use sprinklers.
Even numbered addresses can water on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Odd numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and
Sunday.
Rules for new landscapes (less
than 30 days):
Sprinklers are allowed on the odd/even schedule between 12am – 10am for 10 weeks after the planting
date. In order to
take advantage of the relaxed restrictions, homeowners must be certified under the Outdoor Water Use Program. The course can
be taken online at www.urbanagcouncil.com for $4.95, or you can register to take the class at your local County
Extension office on the second Wednesday of the month from 11am –
12pm for no charge.
March 6, 2008:
Because of recent changes to the watering rules, people may be a bit confused.
These are the current rules:
Professionally installed landscapes can be watered between the hours of 12-10am, three days a week for ten weeks on the odd/even schedule. Odd numbered addresses get Tuesday, Thursday and
Sunday, while even numbered addresses can water on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Starting on March 15, the Urban Agriculture Council will have an "Outdoor
Water Use Registration Program" that will make homeowners eligible to hand water up to 25 minutes a day on that odd/even basis.
Homeowners will need to complete that online class which can be found at: http://www.urbanagcouncil.com
Things are rather confusing regarding which county is allowing what watering. Fortunately,
the Atlanta Journal and Constitution has compiled quite a handy map which can be found here:
Long story short: Happy planting!
February 8, 2008:
